In May, Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire signed the 2009 Domestic Partnership Expansion Act.  This landmark bill completed a three-year fight to provide registered same-sex and senior domestic partners in Washington with the same rights and responsibilities as married couples under state law.

The Domestic Partnership Expansion Act was supposed to take effect July 26, 2009, but it is now on hold because of Referendum 71, a ballot measure that requires a public vote in the November general election to approve the new law.  To preserve the domestic partnership law, voters need to Approve Referendum 71 in November.

Legal Voice is proud to be part of the Approve Referendum 71 campaign.  The campaign is moving forward at full speed and we need your help to win this fight! Please visit the campaign’s website to learn more about how you can help ensure that voters Approve Referendum 71 this fall.
